Clinical practice has made significant progress in digitizing the patient encounter through the EMR. However, the work that occurs before and after the visit, including forms, patient requests, communication, tracking and administrative follow-up, often remains fragmented across disconnected systems and manual processes.
This session presents a practical framework for redesigning these workflows by identifying opportunities to standardize, automate, delegate or shift tasks to asynchronous processes, while keeping clinical workflow, rather than technology, at the centre of the approach.

Presenter Bio:
John O’Mahony, MD
Dr. John O’Mahony has been practicing comprehensive Family Medicine since 2010. Alongside a busy practice, he holds active privileges at Bluewater Health, where he provides obstetric and newborn care and leads clinics for minor outpatient procedures. Dr. O’Mahony also serves as Medical Director for Trillium Villa and Twin Lakes Terrace nursing homes.
He is Lead for the Sarnia Physicians Family Health Organization and teaches medical students and residents as an Adjunct Professor of Family Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine. His ventures include Medaesthetics and Bluewater Clinical Research Group, through which he has participated in more than 125 clinical studies.
