Presenter Bio:
Robert Fox
Robert Fox joined OntarioMD (OMD) as CEO in January 2022. Robert has 25 years of experience leading large teams, defining health policy and enhancing the health care system. Robert believes that the adoption of health care technology is a critical success factor for the optimization and sustainability of Canada’s health care system.
Rob has held senior positions at two major technology companies, TELUS Health, and Cisco Systems, where he was responsible for digital transformation of health care delivery across Canada to improve patient outcomes and experiences through technology. In these roles, Rob was focussed on leveraging digital network and collaboration solutions to improve the quality of patient care in hospitals and enhancing the adoption of technology solutions to enable patient engagement with Ontario Health Teams.
Prior to working in the health technology industry, Rob was an executive at St. Michael’s Hospital for 20 years where he held leadership positions in Quality, Laboratory Medicine, Corporate Performance & Strategy, Decision Support, and Capital Development. He played a crucial role at St. Michael’s Hospital in key projects such as the first fully automated hospital laboratory in Canada, the integration of Wellesley Hospital into St. Michael’s, and major construction projects such as the new patient tower and new research institute. Rob has also advised the Ontario Ministry of Health on capital infrastructure planning and the funding formula for hospitals.
Rob holds an MBA majoring in Health Administration from McMaster University, and a BSc (Honours) in Physiological Psychology/Life Science from Queen’s University.
Lily Chen
Lily Chen is an agile and strategic finance and operations leader with more than 20 years of global experience in the financial services industry. Chen is a Chartered Professional Accountant who has held a number of senior management roles, including divisional chief financial officer and divisional chief administrative officer with Berkshire Hathaway Group, Reinsurance Division, Group CFO at BF&M, and senior leadership roles at Aviva, ING Insurance Asia/Pacific and Marsh. She has honed her skills in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., the Asia Pacific region, the Caribbean, and most recently, Bermuda.
Chen’s background, work experience and passion to drive strategic direction will make her a valuable addition to the OMA’s Executive Team. Her commitment to financial and operational excellence, and to lead and build high-performing teams, will make her a critical team member. She joins a strong team leading our transformational journey to achieve our mission and realize our vision.
Chen is responsible for the following teams: finance, technology, operational excellence, enterprise risk management and OMAI.
