HPV Screening: How to Incorporate New Guidelines to Digital Practice

This session highlights optimized clinical workflows and EMR-based strategies aligned with the updated HPV screening guidelines to enhance early detection of cervical cancer and streamline patient care. Attendees will gain practical insights into key changes in triaging protocols, screening intervals, and age-specific recommendations—alongside a comparative review of how HPV screening is documented, tracked, and managed within three EMR systems: Accuro, PS Suite, and OSCAR Pro. Emphasis will be placed on leveraging digital tools to support clinical decision-making, improve documentation accuracy, and ensure efficient patient follow-up.

Presenter Bios:

Kellie Scott, MD

Dr. Kellie Scott is a Family Physician with experience working in long-term care and palliative home care in St. Thomas, ON. She is an adjunct faculty at the University of Western Ontario, Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Scott has been an avid EMR user since the start of her practice in 2006. She has also been through an EMR conversion and is now using Telus EMR. She also participates in local, regional and system-level primary care leadership with an interest in integrated care and practice facilitation.

Afsoon Khazaee

Afsoon Khazaee graduated in medicine from Hamedan University of Medical Sciences and completed her Master’s Degree in eHealth from McMaster University. She has been working in the health industry for 20 years, Currently, she works at OntarioMD as Practice Enhancement Consultant supporting Ontario clinicians with practice efficiency, optimizing EMR use, and use of digital tools for quality improvement and panel management
