Clinician-Guided AI: A Safer, Smarter Future for Primary Care

Kevin Peterson, MD

Dr. Peterson is Professor Emeritus of Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School and former Vice President of Primary Care and Quality at the American Diabetes Association. His research focuses on diabetes, chronic disease management, clinical trials, practice-based research, and medical engineering. As an educator for over 30 years, Dr. Peterson directed the UMN Center of Excellence in Primary Care (Family Medicine, General Internal Medicine, Pediatrics) with additional appointments in the Institute for Health Informatics and the Institute for Engineering in Medicine. He founded Treatment.com AI Inc., a medical artificial intelligence company, in 2016, creating a public company on the Canadian Stock Exchange in 2022. A Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Dr. Peterson has worked extensively with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has served as Principle Investigator (PI) or site-PI on many NIH funded studies. His contributions have been recognized by the NIH, the National Diabetes Education Program, the American Diabetes Association, and the Minnesota Department of Health.
