
Asthma: Peak Your Performance Using a Novel Digital Tool
In this session, attendees will learn about the Provider Asthma Assessment Form (PAAF), a digital tool that supports adherence with evidence-based asthma guidelines. The session will focus on how use of this e-form within your practice enables high-quality documentation, performance measurement, and quality improvement. We will demonstrate the functionality of the embedded severe asthma algorithm and decision support. Lastly, we will highlight the results and lessons learned from implementation in a primary healthcare team.

Presenter Bios:

Alison Morra
Ms Alison Morra is a registered nurse. She serves as the senior research associate in the Asthma Research Unit of Kingston Health Sciences Centre under the supervision of Dr. Diane Lougheed, working with EMR data standards, knowledge translation and surveillance for quality improvements using primary care EMRs.

Matheson McFarlane
Ms Matheson McFarlene is a second year, MSc candidate, Translational Medicine at Queen’s University. She serves as a research fellow in the Asthma Research Unit of Kingston Health Sciences Centre under the supervision of Dr. Diane Lougheed, studying the use of a standardized knowledge translation tool to promote evidence-based care, surveillance and quality improvements using primary care EMRs. Matheson also works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
